Getting Started

Getting started can be overwhelming; there is so much information on-line and quite a bit glorifies results, is conflicting, and ultimately predatory.
GLP-1 peptides are a tool that is used to help you along your journey. They are NOT a quick fix and if you abuse it in a way to force results you are doing more damage than good physically and mentally. The absolute biggest challenge you will face is being patient. So many things go into such a basic concept!
Some people lose 5lbs a week, sounds wonderful, right? Farthest thing from it. Losing weight too quickly has significant risks and outcomes. Substantial hair loss, gall stones, unstable metabolic processes, and the number one way to set yourself up to not succeed in meeting your goals (notice I don't say fail? You only fail if you give up). Typical rebound gain can be up to 20% more than what your loss was if you rush the process by expecting it to be an easy, quick and sustainable fix. No, its not easy to be patient and trust the process. It is however, infuriating, sad, and at times defeating. The negative self talk and intrusion of bad habits learned from popular diet culture are real.
Healthy and sustainable weight loss is .5 - 2lbs a week. There will be weeks you lose nothing and there will be weeks you lose 3lbs. Your body is dynamic and GLP-1's are forcing it to work correctly when it has been essentially broken for many years. Not every day is going to be a win. I have lost a total of 90lbs and it has taken a year and a half. I didn't even lose any weight for the first 3 months. Lots of self talk and redirection happened I am thankful it did. The concept of weight loss being a journey is an understatement.
Be present in the now and walk the journey one day a time. Don't look too far forward or you will lose sight of yourself.
